Setting up your SILENCE silent disco system is designed to be straightforward and event-ready. Most hosts complete setup in under an hour using the included equipment and quick-start guide.

How Do I Set Up for My Silent Disco?

Before you begin, choose a stable surface near your DJ booth, stage, or presentation area and allow yourself at least 60 to 90 minutes before guests arrive to set up comfortably.

Step 1: Confirm Your Equipment

Open your cases and verify the contents using your included packing guide. Confirm you have your headphones, transmitters, power cords, and audio cables.

If you are running multiple channels, make sure you have one transmitter per channel. Each transmitter corresponds to a separate audio feed.

Step 2: Position the Transmitter(s)

Place each RF transmitter in a central and slightly elevated location within your event space. Elevation helps maximize signal coverage.

A DJ table, stage riser, or elevated surface works well. Avoid placing transmitters directly behind thick walls, dense metal structures, or enclosed cabinets.

Step 3: Connect Power First

Plug the power cord into each transmitter and connect it to a reliable outlet. Once powered on, you should see an indicator light confirming the unit is active.

If you are using multiple channels, power on each transmitter separately.

Step 4: Connect Your Audio Source

Using the included RCA or 3.5mm audio cable, connect your music source to the transmitter input. This can include a laptop, DJ controller, mixer, smartphone, or microphone system.

Begin playing music or speaking into the mic to confirm that audio is feeding into the transmitter.

You can connect via wired audio (RCA or 3.5mm) or Bluetooth, depending on your transmitter model. For Bluetooth pairing, press and hold the Bluetooth button on the transmitter until it begins flashing, then select the device from your audio source.

Step 5: Select and Confirm Channels

Each transmitter operates on its own designated channel. Channel indicators typically correspond to LED colors on the headphones, allowing guests to identify their selected feed.

If running multiple channels, confirm that each transmitter is set to the intended channel before testing.

Channel indicators are color-coded on both the transmitter and headphones:

  • Blue = Channel 1
  • Red = Channel 2
  • Green = Channel 3

Step 6: Power On the Headphones

Turn on a few wireless headphones using the power switch located on the ear cup. An LED light will illuminate to confirm activation.

Use the channel selector on the headphones to match the transmitter channel and verify audio clarity.

For best results, make sure the headphone controls are positioned toward the back when worn. This ensures proper orientation for channel selection and volume control.

Step 7: Test Coverage Across the Room

Walk through your event space while wearing the headphones to confirm consistent signal coverage. Indoors, coverage typically extends up to 50 yards. Outdoors, coverage can reach up to 400 yards under optimal conditions.

If you notice signal drops, slightly reposition the transmitter to a more elevated or central location.

Optional Setup Enhancements

  • Use included MP3 players: Some rentals include preloaded devices with curated playlists for quick setup.
  • Microphone setup: Plug into the mic input on the transmitter and ensure the mic is enabled before use.
  • Transmitter spacing: Keep transmitters spaced apart to reduce interference when running multiple channels.

Quick Troubleshooting Tips

  • No sound? Confirm the transmitter is powered on and audio is playing from your source.
  • Wrong music playing? Check that the headphones are set to the correct channel.
  • Audio cutting out? Move closer to the transmitter or adjust its placement.
  • Low volume? Increase volume on both your audio source and the headphones.

What This Means for Your Event

The SILENCE system is built for simplicity. Once powered, connected, and tested, the transmitter automatically handles wireless distribution to every headset within range.
